NORTH WILLIAMS WIND FARM
THE PROJECT
Lacour Energy is undertaking feasibility studies and community consultation for a potential wind farm development in the Shire of Williams.
The proposed project is located about 10-20 km north of the town of Williams and is anticipated to require approximately 1% of the land area it would be built on.
Lacour Energy has been measuring the wind and undertaking early-stage feasibility studies on the land for approximately three years. Consultation with neighbouring landowners, the local community, and the wider regional community, is expected to occur for approximately 18 months from mid 2025 to late 2026. Feedback from the feasibility studies and community consultation will inform the final design of the proposed project with a Development Application then being prepared and submitted for assessment at the State and Federal level.
It is currently estimated that the project could comprise 80 – 120 wind turbines, with the potential for a first stage of 40 – 60 wind turbines.
Current workstreams underway on the project include:
Wind monitoring and wind energy modelling
Environmental surveys
Project definition development
Stakeholder engagement
Grid connection assessments
As the development process progresses, we will engage with all stakeholders in a manner consistent with industry best practice to build an understanding of the project and any potential impacts as well as seek input on the development concept. As part of the development process we are speaking with neighbours, the local council and the wider community on the proposed project design.
Timelines
The North Williams Project has been under investigation since 2022. A wind farm typically takes 5 – 6 years from initiation through to the start of construction as a number of detailed studies are required in conjunction with extensive community consultation.

If the feasibility is successful, construction is planned to commence in 2027 or 2028, with the construction period for the project of around 24 months. The wind farm is targeted to supply electricity into the Western Power network in 2030.
